It’s just a little thing, but . . .

The only “little” thing about the Ford Ranger is that it’s smaller than a full-size pickup. Which means that even this four-door version fits into my driveway, although it’s too long for my garage. Its name is too long for my garage: 2020 Ford Ranger Supercrew – 5’ Box Lariat, 126” Wheelbase, 2.3-Liter EcoBoost Engine, Elec 10-Speed Auto Trans. Back in the early days of the SUV boom (which, come to think of it, we can blame on another Ford, the Explorer), the highest praise for one of those primitive beasts was “it drives like a car!” Turns out we can say the very same thing about this Ranger. It is much easier to drive and much more comfortable all around than a big pickup, and in truth it really isn’t little at all—drop
the tailgate and a motorcycle fits in the back. Trucks now come with every
imaginable car-like feature added atop their considerable utility, so don’t expect toolbox pricing—well-equipped, this one rings the bell at $46,910.
