What’s New in Pickup Trucks

You know how when you want to get something out of the back of a pickup truck, it’s always up there by the cab? So you have to climb up into the bed because you can’t reach over the side? Look at the step in the side of this new GMC:

But it’s not a stepside, so you get a full-size bed. And, speaking of climbing up into the bed, check this out. It’s activated by a button on the keyfob:

OK, you say, a powered, soft-open tailgate is a nice touch. But getting up in there is still a chore. Not so. There’s a handy step built in—and even a grab bar to help:

This is a 2020 Sierra 2500 Denali 4WD Crew Cab, loaded (to the tune of $78,455) with enough features and toys to make a luxury sedan jealous and powered by a clean (urea injection) Duramax 6.6-liter Turbo Diesel with a 10-speed Allison automatic transmission. Me, I like the tailgate.
