John Goreham is a NEMPA member well into his second decade with the group. Following a long career as a freelance writer with work appearing in the Boston Globe, U.S. News & World Report, and CarGurus, John has established himself as a prominent voice across multiple modern automotive outlets.
Currently, John focuses his work on reviews, opinion pieces, technology spotlights, and market analysis at Torque News. At Car Talk, he serves as a community moderator, staff writer, and editor, managing the Best Vehicle, Best Tire, and Best EV Charger content, alongside creating repair and troubleshooting guides.
A graduate of the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, John brings deep technical expertise to his writing. He is an active member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and an expert vehicle tester with credentials from the Skip Barber Performance Driving School and the Team O’Neil Rally Winter Driving School.
Over the past decade, John has tested a car a week, recently expanding his focus to include tires, EV charging equipment, and other automotive products. “I’m very fortunate to have the support of the automakers, tire manufacturers, and EV equipment makers,” he says. “Without access to their products for honest, first-hand positive content creation, my job would not be possible.”
In addition to his writing and photography, John has steadily expanded his footprint as a digital influencer. In 2025, his top automotive TikTok post earned half a million views, and he serves as a moderator or admin for over a dozen large automotive Facebook groups—including dedicated communities for the Ford Bronco Sport, Toyota Prius, Chevrolet Silverado, and Automotive Media —helping to shape the content members see every day.
At the New England Motor Press Association, John currently serves as Vice President, interfacing with manufacturers, planning events, and supporting the board’s strategic goals. “I’m fortunate to have been a longtime member of NEMPA,” John notes, “and proud to be able to pass along best practices, contacts, and employment opportunities to our new members.”
